GAP

GAP

Taking time off between high school and college is a growing trend in the United States. Just take Malia Obama, for example. She is attending Harvard in the fall of 2017, but not before having completed a Gap Year where she undoubtedly gained real-world experience and further developed her passions. Our office can help those students interested in a Gap Year develop a plan after high school that is not only meaningful and productive, but one that ensures students are better prepared for college. Specifically, we offer guidance in the following areas:

Advise

Extensive investigation of  Gap Year options & pathways; discussion of "deferring" college and how to finance

SUPPORT

Ensure deadlines are met in a timely manner; advocate and support students and parents with weekly sessions as well as regular phone and email communication

DEVELOP

Plan and schedule goals during the year "off"; review all Gap Year programs and internship applications

Follow-up

Continued guidance throughout the year, including advisement on modifications to plans & preparations for life after Gap Year (i.e. college applications)
